긴주말을 맞아 (Good Friday가 끼여 있는 이번 주말은 내가 일하는 곳에서는 긴 주말이다) 오랜만에 한국 영화를 보았다. 보면서 느낀 점?
- 스토리가 정말 탄탄해졌다.
- 재미있다.
- 많이 생각하게 만든다.
영화 "행복"...내가 언제 행복했던가라고 스스로에게 묻게 만드는 영화. 은희(임수정분)은 영수(황정민분)와 함께 있었던 "순간들"이 행복했었다. 나는 지금 행복한가? 따뜻한 느낌, 아늑함... 있었는데... 미래가 어떻게 되든지 그 순간이 행복했던 적이 있었다.이제는 아내와 한 집에서 살아야겠다는 생각이 든다.
영화 "브라보마이라이프"...
정년퇴직을 앞둔, 정직하게 살아온, 만년 부장, 조민혁 부장. 경제적으로 가장 부담이 될 때, 한창 일을 할 때, 단지 연령이 이르렀다는 이유만으로 현직에서 물러나야하는 조민혁 부장. 퇴직선물로 부하직원들이 그에게 준 것은 그가 잘하고, 정말 하고 싶었던 하지만 경제적 책임을 지닌 한 가족의 가장이었기 때문에 버려야 했던 꿈," 갑근세밴드"에서 드러머(drummer)로 연주할 기회였다.
나도 꿈이 있다... 뮤지컬 공연을 해보는 것.... "아가씨와 건달들"을 처음 본 고등학교 때부터 꿈이었다...

두 편 모두다 시간가는 줄 모르고 보았다. 강추!
"행복"하고 싶다....
며칠 전, MSNBC 에서, 이번 미국 풋볼 시즌에서 전승을 기록했고, 이번 일요일 수퍼볼 경기에서 New York Giants와 패권을 다툴 New England Patriots의 주인인 Bob Kraft와의 인터뷰를 보았다. 그 사람이 한 말 중 가장 기억에 남는 문장은 대충 해석하자면, "프로 스포츠에서는 모든 것들에 최선을 다해서 경기에서 이기는 게 가장 중요하고, 응원하는 팬들에게 제일 큰 서비스라고 생각한다"였다.
내가 현재 일하고 있는 곳에는 Break room에 커피를 내려서 보온병에 담아 두고, 과에 소속된 사람들이 오며 가며 마실 수 있게 되어 있는데, 가루원두커피를 담고 있는 포장에는 커피잔을 들고 있는 사람의 사진과 함께, "Life is not all about winning."이라는 문구를 담고 있다. 물론, 열심히 일하다 커피를 마시면서 잠시 쉬라는 뜻이었겠지만, 동료들과 함께 그 포장을 볼 때마다, 패자들이나 그런 소리를 한다고, 우리들은 "Looser's coffee"를 마시고 있다고 자조하곤 한다.
각자가 winning 에 대하여 어떻게 정의하느냐에 따라서 내가 현재 어떤 인생을 살고 있는지 알 수 있지 않을까?

Due to several reasons, all of computer that either belongs to me or is assigned to me become Microsoft Windows free system.
First, my boss bought me a new iMac with 20' screen.
Second, because of a spyware infection, I had to format a hdd and decided to install Ubuntu 7.10 operating system to give it a shot. Of course, I had to install Windows XP because of some Korean web sites in which ActiveX is exclusively used for service.
So far, I do not have any problem in using OS X 10.5 Leopard. It's well designed and well documented for the latest switcher. On the other hand, taking care of Linux operating system is whole different story. I understand that it's free and maintained by volunteers. but, they expect you to know the basics about Unix system with which I am totally beginner. I estimate that I should re-install this operating system several times after several trial and errors.
But, living without Windows makes my computing life much easier. Using my old laptop feels much faster and not to much worried about virus infection nor spyware.
I am hoping to get a new Mac for home. That'll be a upgrade from my 4 years old laptop. Let's see what I am going to do with extra tax refund, an only good thing which Bush has done so far at least for me.
Are you desperate postdoc who wants to publish so many articles and move on?
